Overall description of the association
The American Insurance Association is a property and casualty insurance trade organization, representing more than 370 insurers that write more than $60 billion in premiums each year. AIA member companies offer all types of property and casualty insurance, including personal and commercial auto insurance, commercial property and liability coverage for small businesses, workers’ compensation, homeowners_92 insurance, medical malpractice coverage, and product liability insurance.
Describe some urban affairs related activities in which your association is involved.
AIA is one of the founding members of the National Insurance Task Force (NITF). As such, AIA serves on the Steering Committee and sits on numerous NITF subcommittees, and Neighborhood Housing Services’ Insurance Committees throughout the nation.
AIA has also sponsored the Organization for a New Equality’s Campaign for Economic Literacy in Boston, Kansas City and St. Louis.
AIA supports organizations such as the Urban Insurance Partners Institute and their efforts to promote affordability and availability of insurance in urban markets.
